About Us—Our Journey Began When…
In 1902, a band of one hundred Methodists met in the basement of the Second Presbyterian Church with the express purpose of organizing and building a church. That church became The Eleventh Avenue Methodist Church which stood on Eleventh Avenue and Twelfth Street for eighty-six years.
By the late 1980's, the University of Alabama at Birmingham expanded throughout Southside, boxing in the church property. In 1991, the family congregation relocated to Lakeshore Parkway and became the Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
In 2009, the Aldersgate congregation merged with the congregation of Beverly United Methodist Church, and now we have partnered with several Ross Bridge families to create—The Church at Ross Bridge!
We are a United Methodist Congregation designed to serve the entire community.
We are a creative community with the goal of stimulating imagination in the life of Christ and the service of God.
Join us at the Ross Bridge Town Hall for worship at 9A.M. on Sundays and then at 10A.M. for a time when all ages can explore timeless truths from the Bible. There are groups for preschool, children, youth, and four adult groups—Genesis, Elevate, Good Fellowship, andAldersgate. Both adult groups are led by capable, insightful, and engaging teachers.
